- Dry Dog Food – Convenient and inexpensive, dry dog food also known as kibble is both long lasting and an easy choice to feed your dog. Dry dog food is probably the most popular option for food your dogs today, as it is easy to store, and easy to plate, and measure. Because of the nature of the food and how it is prepared, it can contain preservatives, processed ingredients and fillers, so make sure to check the ingredients before purchasing. Many commercial dry dog food makers will use “by-product” which can be the left overs from chicken and beef processing, these items might not be the healthiest for your pet, so do your research before buying.
- Wet Dog Food – This food comes in a can or pouch and is very easy for dogs to eat and digest. If your dog has trouble eating dry food, wet food is an excellent option. It is also a great option for those pets that need more water in their diet. It is also a nice treat to mix some wet food with dry kibble. Wet food can be a bit messier, to prepare and for dogs to eat, so be prepared to do some cleaning after feedings.
- Alternative Dog Food – There exists a few alternatives to the traditional Wet or Dry dog foods. The most popular of currently is the Fresh and Frozen dog foods. Touting benefits related to increased nutrients because the food is not processed and kept as natural as possible. Make sure to consult your vet before exploring these options.
